Approximately 20 years ago, Sandwell College underwent a restructuring phase that led to the closure of various 'trades' departments, a trend observed in many colleges during that period. In response, we decided to establish an independent electrical training company focusing on the adult sector and career changers. Over these years, the company has evolved and has gone by the name Optima Electrical Training since 2018.

Notably, Optima is more than just a business; it is a family business. This family-centric approach has played a crucial role in our success and has brought about numerous benefits. Family businesses are known for their unique strengths, such as long-term commitment, a strong sense of values, and a personal touch that extends to both employees and clients. These qualities have been instrumental in fostering a deep sense of trust and loyalty within our organisation.

Our expansion journey includes the addition of the London branch in 2018, Glasgow, and the latest addition of our Manchester branch in 2021. Remarkably, three of the original lecturers that were part of Sandwell College still actively work with Optima to this day. This continuity and dedication are testaments to the cohesion and stability that family businesses often bring to their endeavors. We take pride in our family heritage, which has allowed us to not only survive but thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of vocational education and training.
